We still have a few sessions available including most afternoons and lunch clubs. We would like to remind you that if your child is eligible to access nursery education funding they are entitled to 15
hours (5 sessions) per week. If you would like to top up your child’s sessions please let Sam or Hayley know.
Can we please ask parents to collect their children up promptly at the end of their session, as this will impact on our insurance and staffing ratios. The cost is £1 for every part of 15 minutes for late collections and this will be invoiced at the end of the term.
School Admission – September 2015
Children who were born between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012 can start at a primary or infant/first school from September 2016. You can apply online on the school admissions website from Saturday 12th September 2015 and the closing date for the submission of applications is January 2016.
Parents can apply for schools both within and outside North Somerset, including first, middle and upper schools. It's vital that applications are made on time, as late applicants have less chance of being allocated a place at their preferred school. If any of your details need to be updated for example: contact numbers, address or people who can collect your child please let a member of staff know.
Our AGM will be on Thursday 23rd October 2015 at 7:30pm. This is your opportunity to positively impact on your child’s setting and how it is run. We are looking for new committee members who have children attending or starting the setting and are willing to take an active role. Previous committee members have found that the skills and knowledge they have learnt in the roles have also helped them in their daily lives and careers. Please complete and return the form on the attached letter.
Hoodies and T-shirts
An order was placed during the summer holidays, which is now back. We will be placing another order at the end September. Please let a member of staff know if you would like to place an order.
For children who have started in September if you would like a pre-school red bag then please let a member of staff know. We haven’t handed them out as yet as we have seen that some children have bought new backpacks ready for coming back to pre-school.
Sponsored Toddle Waddle (July 2015)
Well done to everyone who took part in the Toddle Waddle back in July. We raised a total of £318.50, with Barnardo’s receiving £257 and Roundabouts £60. Thank you.
We have Concept Photography booked for Saturday 17th October, between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Time slots are now available, siblings and families welcome (perfect gifts for Christmas)
IMPORTANT – INHALERS
If your child has an inhaler you must bring it along to your child’s sessions in case of an emergency. Some doctors will prescribe two so you can keep one at pre-school. They will be kept in the kitchen so children cannot access them freely and you will need to complete a form detailing the type of inhaler and dosage required. Please see a member of staff who will get you a copy of the form. We may never need to administer it whilst they are with us however it is a precaution that we need to take.
Please ensure ALL of your child’s belongings, including drinks bottles, lunch boxes and clothes are labelled as it is easier to return them to their rightful owner.
Please can you discourage the children from bringing in teddies or toys in to pre-school unless we have specifically asked for something as part of a topic. Items are becoming lost and children are getting quite upset if other children use their toys. If they have to bring it with them, can you please make sure it goes in their bags before they enter the playroom.
If your child stays for lunch, then please provide us with a toothbrush and toothpaste so that we can encourage teeth cleaning and discuss personal hygiene and self-care.
Early Drop Off/ Later Collections
A reminder that we offer the following service: an early drop off from 8:50am until 9:10am, this does not need to be booked in advance however payment of £2 is payable at the time of dropping off. Please note we will not be providing breakfast for the children.
Later collection – from 3:45pm – 4:05pm, this does need to be booked in advance and payment of £2 is payable when arranging with a member of staff otherwise our uncollected child procedure will be followed. Regular pre-booked drop offs and/ or later collections will receive a discounted rate.
Birthday Party Hire
Are you looking for a venue to hold your child’s Birthday Party on a weekend? Have you thought about Roundabouts? At a reasonable rate of £30 for a 2 hour party including a half hour set up and tidy away time either side, room hire and kitchen use. For more information please speak to Sam or Hayley.
We now have three new pets at Roundabouts. A hamster called Snowy and two African land snails called Bubble and Squeak. The children are learning to look after them and care for them. If anyone would like to take them over the weekend to look after them, please see a member of staff who will add your name to the diary.
